Woman Sues Former Boyfriend For Unauthorized Sex Tape

Intimate partners sometimes like to make videos of their more tender moments for their own personal viewing; with both partners consenting of course. But it's another matter altogether when it's done without the other partner's permission, an incident that prompted one Chicago woman to seek the counsel of an Illinois injury lawyer.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported on the woman known only as "Jane Doe" filed a personal injury suit against her former boyfriend.

She claims that she dated the man in 2008 but she had no knowledge a sex tape was made until another one of the man's former girlfriends sent her a CD of the recording, according to the article. The other woman reportedly told Ms. Doe that she found additional sex tapes in his home as well.

No mention is made of the exact claim for which she's seeking damages, but a quote from her interview is telling:

"It's really affected me. I don't really have any desire to date anyone -- or a least no one seriously. I don't want to be emotionally involved with a man who could potentially hurt me the same way [he] did."

Ms. Doe is seeking more than $50,000 in damages in her suit against the unnamed defendant. It's unclear as to what extent the videos have been circulated or shared, but her attorney, an Illinois injury attorney Michael J. Malatesta told reporters they believe "there has been some kind of publication."

The defendant in the lawsuit denied allegations when reporters reached him by telephone. He reportedly told the Sun-Times, "I have no idea what you're talking about." and said he was calling police with regard to what he claimed was a fraudulent allegation. Ms. Doe had also contacted police about the incident.
